If you have an intel Mac and would like to try out the first test of a PUID enabled Picard on OS X, please download this DMG and post a comment to let me know if it works.
This DMG:
- Is for INTEL only
- Only runs on OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
- Probably does not have working CD Lookup
- Might be buggy
- Is based on the 0.9.0 Picard tarball
- Is NOT a Universal Binary
If this DMG works for people then I will proceed to try to get 10.4/PPC/disc lookup support working.
Have you already fixed the DMG? I downloaded it 15 minutes ago and Picard is running beautifully (with a stylish new icon, no less!).
PUID generation is working and I can confirm that it is generating some existing PUIDs which is a good sign.
Woohoo! Thanks!
Any chance for a Tiger release?
It works good, only in the console the following error is coming up at my macbook
Feb 26 08:30:14 Macintosh [0x0-0x4ea4ea].org.pythonmac.unspecified.picard[6912]: invalid new backstep 590

Also it won’t submit puid’s to the server, give’s the error won’t authencitate.
If you want i can mail you my console log from running picard when checking 3 cd’s?
Reinout: Try re-entering your credentials in Picard. These got rid for the authentication problem for me.

The tagging etc. works as in previous version, but I don’t see it generating PUID’s. Is there anything I need to do to enable that?
Click an unmatched file (in the left panel) and then click “))) Scan”.
Or, go to Options and check “Automatically scan all new files”.
any word on a ppc version?
libffmpeg refuses to build on pcc for me right now. I’m waiting for an upstream bug to be fixed before I can proceed. 🙁 Maybe next weekend.
EXCELLENT. Thanks!!!
I’m downloading it now, and will be testing it on my Macbook Pro…
Working great here on a Core Duo MacBook.
Proud to say that I didn’t encounter any problems with Picard, everything worked perfectly…
I threw my entire collection at it, 23K+ tracks, without any errors. Thanks for the hard work. It’s working great for me.
It works great for me as well. Wonderful work!
Yes, finally! Have been waiting for this since Picard came out on the other platforms.
By any chances, is it possible to make a intel 10.4 build?
thanks
sorry to bug you, but any chance of a ppc build? i’m dying to throw my music at it
Just tested this using the iTunes hints (with checking/unchecking selections). It works very well for me on the five albums on which I needed to use it.
Thanks a lot for making this available!
Works great – no problems so far even with the album art plugin.
Working fine for me. Just put my whole music library through it.
Please, a Tiger version… please
Any luck with the PPC build? It would really make a huge difference for a lot of people.
I have written a HOWTO for installing all necessary dependencies for PicardQt, and getting it up, running, and fingerprinting files. I’ve confirmed that it works on PPC Leopard… here’s a link:

Comments and testing would be greatly appreciated.
Any ETA for a Tiger release?
An Intel 10.4 build is most definitely needed. Please!
basstony: Go to the picard download page. We now have official OSX 10.4 builds!
