Have you ever wanted to see all the [genre] albums coming out next week?* Go do it in the new and overhauled ListenBrainz Fresh Releases! Live the dream!

As well as greatly improved UI and UX, it has a number of new filters as well as sorting and display options. Check it out.
And, if you’re logged in, visit your very own ‘For you’ section to see what’s recent from your favorite artists.
Fresh Releases is an excellent ListenBrainz feature that was implemented by Chinmay for Google Summer of Code 2022. Like most GSoC projects there’s always a bagful of extra ideas and improvements that are out of scope, are specialized tasks, or that only present themselves after the project has ended. So how was the dusty ol’ MetaBrainz team able to make a lovely overhaul happen? You may remember that this September we got a much needed UI/UX team boost in the form of Ansh Goyal, who has been working on this refresh.
More than just UI/UX updates, the ‘wish list’ of features in the proposed mockup ended up going well beyond simply making the page look nicer, and Ansh has been able to turn it all into crunchy reality. Stay tuned as he is unleashed on more features in need of attention.
We see a lot of potential in Fresh Releases as a destination page, but also for possible integration into other areas of MeB. And, of course, third party applications – if you build something cool using this data, make sure to let us know!
*You hate [genre]? That’s a bit harsh. But no problem, you can also filter Fresh releases to display everything except [genre]. How cool is that!?
